The Goals of the Partnership Steering Committee are:
- To effectively anticipate and respond as needed to local changes in the South Slough and Coastal Frontal watersheds
- To establish a public forum that facilitates community collaboration and decision making
The Objectives of the Partnership for Coastal Watersheds are:
- Develop a vision for the South Slough and Coastal Frontal watersheds that defines long-term (i.e., 20 years) economic, environmental, and community goals
- Develop a shared understanding of the current quality of life and environmental conditions in the project area
- Develop a shared understanding of the issues facing the project area which may impede progress towards realizing the vision
- Identify voluntary actions for the project area that will help ensure progress towards the vision
- Prioritize those actions based on collectively agreed upon criteria
- Contribute to implementing prioritized community and resource management actions for the project area
- Contribute to the development of a program to evaluate progress towards meeting the vision in light of changing conditions
- Contribute to the first State of the Watersheds assessment for the South Slough and Coastal Frontal watersheds
Members are asked to:
- Engage in civil, constructive dialogue
- Listen to others’ ideas and views
- Work within the group rather than going outside or around
- Participate in ~9 meetings over ~1 yr.
- Engage in a Collaborative Learning Process
- Participate in sub-committees, as necessary
- Be a part of broader outreach and community involvement efforts, as appropriate
- Consider participating in future meetings to review watershed health information and consider additional voluntary watershed projects
